26 Promotions In FDNY Led By 'Ops' Chief

Fire Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta presided over a promotion ceremony Jan. 3 for 26 members of the FDNY.

Among them was William Siegel, a 38-year FDNY veteran who was elevated to the rank of Deputy Assistant Chief and selected to lead the Special Operations Command.

8 Other Chiefs Rise

Four members were promoted to the rank of Deputy Chief and four others promoted to the rank of Battalion Chief. Fifteen members were elevated to the rank of Lieutenant, and two firefighters were promoted to the rank of Provisional Marine Wiper.

The new Deputy Chiefs are: James E. Campbell; James C. Hodgens; Ronald W. Werner; and Michael E. McPartland.

The new Battalion Chiefs are: Jeffrey S. Magnatta; Michael A. Gunning; Donald R. Murphy; and Thomas J. Pigott.

The Lieutenants are: Roy J. Cotignola; Thomas I. Daly; Eric J. Kosak; Brian J. Voos; Charles V. Vanrossem; Ryan R. Paholek; Joseph M. Mascia; Francis D. Cummins; Michael J. Gaffney; Jeffrey M. Bednar; Michael J. Lyons; Paul W. Schmalzried; Gary L. Santosus; Clifford J. Woods; and Cary B. Walsh.

The Provisional Marine Wipers are Vincent Berna and Michael P. Ryan.
