To the Editor: Fitz Reid's letter in the Dec. 7 issue of The Chief was filled with inaccuracies and misstatements for the purpose of discrediting the leadership of Local 768 and District Council 37 and has the appearance of sour grapes. Mr. Reid ran for various offices in the local, the most recent of which was the presidency of Local 768, without success. More ... To the Editor: I am writing a brief response to the letter written by Fitz Reid, executive vice president of District Council 37, Local 768. As a member of Local 768, I must respond generally to the many inaccuracies in Mr. Reid's letter to The Chief. More ... To the Editor: As a retired city Correction Captain, I would like to strongly recommend that Capt. Rene Chong be awarded the honor of having a building named after her. Personally, I'd like to see the Correction Academy named after her so as new recruits ask who she was, they will be told her amazing story. More ... To the Editor: Proactive policing has run amok with the return of "Operation Lucky Bag," after prosecutors and judges shut it down nine months ago. In this misguided attempt to catch evil-doers, police make arrests of people who pick up "planted" bags or wallets, and don't immediately turn them over to the police or other authorities. More ... To the Editor: We were shocked at Sister Carol Lang's characterization (Nov. 30 issue) of the letter that we penned, which she said was filled with so many racist remarks and misinformation that she could not cite one of them, but instead, assassinated the entire text.
