MAIL ME A BALLOT

Mail Me a Ballot

To the Editor:

As a member of Local 372, it makes me wonder why President Montgomery-Costa is afraid to have someone, namely Tony Ferina, oppose her in an election. After all, she won a solid victory with 417 votes out of 26,000. Why worry? I, as a member of District Council 37, a working mother of five and grandmother of one, would like to see a mail vote enacted for us. In this day and age, we all live very, very busy lives, perhaps holding down two or even three jobs. To limit the voting for 26,000 to one location for eight hours is totally unfair! Perhaps the voting outcome would be different if we could vote by mail. All is fair in love and war. AFSCME should give us the mail ballot and let the chips fall where they may! I will take the time and effort to vote for a change and for mail ballots in 2008.

FLORENCE GEIGER, Local 372, School Aide
