Letters to the Editor: Local 372 Leader's Tyranny
      To the Editor: I am very grateful to your newspaper for the column titled "AFSCME's Turkey Ruse" (Nov. 23 issue). As a member of Local 372, I was horrified to learn about President Montgomery-Costa's huge pay raise that was given to her by Local 372's executive committee. How can these people justify not only the large increase, but having it be retroactive to Ms.

COSTA'S CHUTZPAH
      To the Editor: What kind of president do we have in Local 372 who raises her pay more than three times a member's yearly salary? And to make it retroactive to her first day on the job is insane. President Montgomery-Costa, who gets paid from our union dues, has given nothing to the members in return. We can barely afford bread and milk with today's prices.

      To the Editor: As a member of Local 372, it makes me wonder why President Montgomery-Costa is afraid to have someone, namely Tony Ferina, oppose her in an election. After all, she won a solid victory with 417 votes out of 26,000. Why worry?

      To the Editor: Guarding the Mayor of the City of New York is an obligation and a priority, and the planning, budgeting, and logistics that arise from the need to protect the Mayor certainly warrant some measure of confidentiality - maybe even some disguise.
