Politically Insensitive

To the Editor:

I am surprised and shocked that District Council 37 chose to hold a political action meeting on Sept. 13, the second day of Rosh Hashanah. Surely the leadership of Lillian Roberts understands this is an affront to our Jewish brothers and sisters. It shows a lack of sensitivity to the hard-working Jewish civil servants who are part of the membership of DC 37.

As a delegate of Local 375, I strongly question the judgment of our union leadership in holding that meeting on this important day on the Jewish calendar. It is a real shame that this took place on that Holy Day. Our Jewish labor leaders must speak out against this insensitivity on the part of our leadership.
