Letters to the Editor: HA's CM/Build is a Success
To the Editor:
In a recent letter to The Chief (July 6th issue) the writers, including the president of Civil Service Technical Guild Local 375 of District Council 37, took issue with certain aspects of the New York City Housing Authority's Capital Construction Program.

EMS NEEDS DIVORCE
To the Editor:
At the June 28 City Council hearing on the progress of the FDNY/EMS merger over the past 11 years, the EMS Chief-in-Charge, John Peruggia, painted a rosy picture of the takeover of EMS by the FDNY. Thank God that Don Faeth and Tom Eppinger were present to provide a reality check to the Chief's company-manned testimony.

IMPROVING EMS
To the Editor:
As a former city paramedic, I've been closely following the steady, incremental improvements in the 911 dispatch system. As such, while I believe a more decentralized and redundant set of centers would be better, I'm happy to see that the city is at least establishing one backup/duplicate.

Firstly, not only are their pay raises retroactive to 2004, but, in August of this year, they will be receiving an additional 4-percent pay increase. Ms.

PENSION INJUSTICE
To the Editor:
Chapter 529 of the Laws of 1994 created the Transit 25/55 plan (Section 604-b of the RSSL). An eligible "New York City Transit Authority member was defined in part as " ... (c) either (i) an hourly-paid employee or (ii) an annually-paid employee in a position, the direct line of promotion to which is from an hourly-paid position.

BUSH A COWARD
To the Editor:
The best way to describe our President is to say that George W. Bush is a coward. He's a coward who covers his pathetic moral weakness by recklessly sacrificing the lives of those who have the courage that he lacks - our young men and women in the military.
