Bronx DA Names First Woman As Chief Assistant

Bronx Executive Assistant District Attorney Odalys Alonso was appointed Chief Assistant District Attorney last week and will be the first woman to serve in that position.

Bronx District Attorney Robert T. Johnson tapped her to replace Barry Kluger, who had served as his Chief Assistant for 18 years, after Governor Spitzer asked Mr. Kluger to take over as Inspector General of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

Ms. Alonso has been an Assistant District Attorney since 1986 and served as part of Mr. Johnson's executive staff for the past seven years. Assistant District Attorney Robert Dreher, Chief of the General Crimes Division, will replace Ms. Alonso.
