TRUE FACTS AT TWU

True Facts at TWU

To the Editor:

This is in response to Percival Thomas's letter to the editor on May 25. Although eloquent, his letter is less than truthful. Mr. Thomas makes reference to when Mr. Toussaint was Track Safety Chairman, but what is interesting is that Mr. Thomas was hired as a Track Worker months after Toussaint was Track Chairman. So, for him to make any comments regarding Track Division prior to his hire is pure fiction.

There is no doubt that Local 100 made track safety a centerpiece as of late. But this latest push follows the track safety bill that was drafted in 2001 by Joel Fredericson. I was one of the elected Track Division officers who were asked to review Mr. Fredericson's diligent work back then. So, for Mr. Thomas to attempt to skew any credit away from Mr. Fredericson is, once again, pure fiction bordering on fairytale.

He also comments about Mr. Fredericson working to defeat Toussaint in this past election and launching a political attack against him. Maybe Mr. Thomas can cite what position Mr. Fredericson sought this past election. Mr. Fredericson did not seek any position in Local 100 and, in fact, is happily long retired.

Mr. Thomas sounds like a blindly loyal Toussaint supporter who can't let go of this past election where he, himself, was defeated. It's time to move on.

JACK BLAZEJEWICZ, Track Division Recording Secretary
