      The state Department of Civil Service is accepting applications for an exam leading to entry-level Keyboard Specialist I jobs. The starting salary is $24,414. Appointees assigned to work in the five boroughs or in Nassau, Suffolk, Rockland, or Westchester counties will receive an additional $1,302 annual downstate adjustment.

      The Nassau County Police Department is accepting applications for an exam leading to more than 500 Police Officer jobs, based on prior hiring figures. The starting salary is $34,000. The maximum pay is $91,737 after eight years on the job. Applications must be submitted by June 8. The written test is scheduled to be held on Aug. 13 through 18.
