Bronx Community College Turns 50

Bronx Community College is celebrating its 50th birthday April 11 beginning at 3 p.m. in the lower level of the college's Colston Hall.

College President Carolyn G. Williams, who is completing her 10th year in that job, will deliver welcoming remarks, followed by a rendition of "Happy Birthday" led by Professor Tom Cipullo and the Bronx Community College Singers. The group will offer another song, and there will also be a performance by the Bronx Community College Dance Workshop.

BCC opened its doors in 1957 at the old home of the Bronx High School of Science at East 184th St. and Creston Ave. It has since moved to the spacious campus at West 181st St. and University Ave.
