Mayor Makes Roberts's Day

Mayor Bloomberg paid tribute to recently re-elected District Council 37 Executive Director Lillian Roberts by declaring Feb. 1 "Lillian Roberts Day" and praising her life's work in the labor movement. The proclamation coincided with the opening ceremonies of the 26th year of DC 37's Black History Month program.

Ms. Roberts said she was surprised to receive the honor. "I never expected to be presented with these proclamations for my work in the labor movement," she said. "I am honored to receive them, and accept them on behalf of the tens of thousands of members of this great union who have allowed me the privilege of serving them. The members are what keep me going."
