Arrest EMT for Medical Forgery

By GINGER ADAMS OTIS

The Department of Investigation announced the arrest of an Emergency Medical Service worker Jan. 16 on charges that he forged medical forms to explain a string of absences.

Emergency Medical Technician Aubrey Lindie, an EMS employee since 1996, was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument and first-degree tampering with public records, as well as several lesser charges. If convicted, he faces up to seven years in prison.

DOI Commissioner Rose Gill Hearn said Mr. Lindie, 47, attempted to cover a series of absences in September 2006 by submitting medical documentation of an illness. Portions of the forms were allegedly filled out and signed by Mr. Lindie's doctor, but a subsequent DOI investigation revealed he'd never sought medical attention on those dates and had forged his doctor's signature. The investigation was conducted with the assistance of the FDNY Inspector General's Office.
