New Correction Chief Named

Correction Commissioner Martin F. Horn Nov. 28 promoted Patrick Walsh to Chief of Facility of Operations.

Mr. Walsh joined the department in 1981, working as a Correction Officer assigned to the James A. Thomas Center on Rikers Island. From there he moved his way up the career ladder, serving as Captain, Assistant Deputy Warden, and as the executive officer of the Emergency Service Unit. He most recently served as the Assistant Chief of Special Operations.

"I'm proud to have Chief Walsh play such a critical role in the Department of Correction," Mr. Horn said in a statement. "His leadership skills and experience make him an ideal fit for this post."
