CSA Ad Appeals to Mayor, Klein

By HOWARD MEGDAL

With her tenure rapidly running out, and a contract stalemate dating back to 2003, Council of School Supervisors and Administrators President Jill Levy began running a radio ad last week urging Schools Chancellor Joel Klein and Mayor Bloomberg to act more like Santa Claus.

"Mayor Bloomberg ... Mr. Klein ... If we truly believe school leaders matter, let's commit to negotiating a new contract and give CSA members a holiday present," the leader of the union representing Principals, Assistant Principals and other school administrators said in the spot, which runs through Dec. 1. "The children of this city count on their school leaders ... and we are counting on you."

Despite the stalemate that led the union to file for impasse earlier this year, Ms. Levy believes a contract could be quickly reached.

"I truly believe that all parties can reach an agreement within 48-72 hours, if the parties are serious about reaching a contract settlement," she said.
