IN THE LINE OF DUTY:
Joseph Miccio (back row in white cap) a Uniformed Firefighters' Association board member, attended a Nov. 22 plaque dedication at the 78th Police Precinct in honor of his namesake and great-uncle, Det. Joseph A. Miccio, who was gunned down just a few blocks away Dec. 7, 1942 while trying to apprehend two criminal suspects. The extended Miccio family attended the ceremony, as did Patrolmen's Benevolent Association President Patrick J. Lynch (not shown), and Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly (to Mr. Miccio's left.) A plaque dedicated to Detective Miccio and fellow officers from the 78th who died on the job now hangs on the stationhouse wall.
