Parole Officers Finish Training, Go Into Field

The New York State Board of Parole welcomed 44 new Parole Officers during a Nov. 17 graduation ceremony in Albany.

The gathering was presided over by Parole Board Chairman Robert J. Dennison and Division of Parole Executive Director Anthony G. Ellis II. "Each of you has answered a calling to serve and protect your fellow citizens and to uphold the highest ideals of law-enforcement and public service," Mr. Dennison told the graduates.

With the addition of the new officers, the force has been increased to more than 1,200 sworn Peace Officers, according to the state.

Eight Weeks of Training

The new officers completed an intensive eight-week training course, which took place at the Senator Hugh T. Farley Regional Law Enforcement Training Academy in Schenectady. They received instruction in offender supervision and criminal justice regulations.

Parole Officer Rebecca Hotaling received the Leroy Drake Memorial Award, which is given to the recruit who excelled academically. Parole Officer Scott Harmon was honored with the Eric Jaworski Memorial Award, which is presented to the officer who exhibits the highest degree of firearms efficiency.

Edward Golembeski, Arnold Grab, Jerrold Hock, Bryan Hotaling, Matthew Kalencki, Robin Lane, Kathleen McDonnell, Amy Mendel, Gina Norton, Ken Palmer, Farconeris Perez, Nick Pezdek, Nicholas Pierce, Tina Prawel;

Jess Premo, Gina Pritchett, Brian Reed, Marc Saban, Cathy Scarupa, Mark Schueler, Zaira Serrano, Jillian Smith, Scott Staszak, Kimberly Storey, Sharon Tabone, McKenzie Trubridge, David Wisniewski, and Jeffrey Woolson.
