A slate headed by Council of School Supervisors and Administrators Executive Vice President Ernest Logan has been elected without opposition despite union members having worked more than three years under an expired contract.

As Mr. Logan was elected to replace retiring President Jill Levy, First Vice President Peter McNally moved up to executive vice president, and Vice President Randi Herman was elevated to first vice president, effective Feb. 1, 2007.
A Lone Elector
Because the candidates were unopposed, union Secretary Michael DeStefano cast the lone vote for each.
Ms. Levy had announced her support for the slate last month when she said she would be stepping down at the end of her current term. "It is time to move on and let CSA grow under the experienced and visionary leadership of our Executive Vice President Ernest Logan and First Vice President Peter McNally, both of whom have been my closest and most trusted team members," Ms. Levy said in a statement.
The victory ensures continued close ties between CSA and its parent union, the American Federation of School Administrators. Ms. Levy was elected president of AFSA earlier this year, and plans to continue in that post. Mr. Logan is an AFSA vice president.
Focus On Contract
Mr. Logan said, "The number one priority of the union is to get a successor agreement to the 2003 contract, and I certainly hope that occurs even before I officially become president. It's Jill's top priority at this point and it will be mine."
Mr. DeStefano will continue as secretary, and Edith Soto
Koenig remains treasurer. Elected to vice president posts were Laverne Burrowes,
Mark Cannizzaro, Alex Castillo, Richard Oppenheimer, and Nilda J. Rivera.
