99 New Detectives In P.D. Promotions

Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly named an Assistant Chief, Deputy Chief, Inspector and two new Deputy Inspectors among 104 uniform upgrades - including 99 Detectives - in a ceremony held at 1 Police Plaza Oct. 30.

Mr. Kelly also promoted 34 civilian employees to various titles, including School Safety Group Leader.

O'Neill, Trabitz Advance

Assistant Chief Michael P. O'Neill joined the department as a Police Trainee in 1969, and began his career on patrol in The Bronx in 1972. He most recently served as the commanding officer of the Employee Relations Section.

Deputy Chief Jack J. Trabitz began his career with the NYPD in 1979 serving in the 71st Precinct in Brooklyn. Currently, he's the commanding officer of the Property Clerk Division.

Inspector Walter T. Salowski started working for the department in 1984 on patrol in Brooklyn. He most recently served as the commanding officer of the Applicant Processing Division.

David Colon and Matthew Whelan were promoted to Deputy Inspector.
