OSA Wins Right To Represent HHC Title

By HOWARD MEGDAL

Workers within the title of Systems Project Leader at the Health and Hospitals Corporation last week chose the Organization of Staff Analysts to represent them in an election mandated by the Office of Collective Bargaining.

OSA had filed for the right to represent the SPLs, and its bid was contested by District Council 37's Local 2627. However, of the 16 eligible voters, 11 chose OSA, with just 1 vote going to Local 2627 and four not voting.

'Grateful for Result'

"We're grateful for the result," OSA President Robert J. Croghan said in an Oct. 13 interview. "We're pleased that these individuals trusted us. We'll do everything to keep that promise."

Local 2627 President Ed Hysyk said that he filed to represent the SPLs because "we represent some of [the HHC] titles, and so does OSA. We made out what I thought was a good case for joining DC 37, and they chose otherwise. We respect their decision."

Mr. Croghan said the employees' choice meant, "They'll be entitled to due process. They'll join the ranks of organized labor, and have the right to demand the respect for the work that they do, rather than simply having to beg for it from management."
