Kelly is Recipient Of Hoban Award

Police Commissioner Ray Kelly Sept. 17 was awarded the 2006 Chris Hoban Award, named in memory of a police officer who was killed while working undercover in a buy-and-bust operation, as part of the ceremonies highlighted by the annual "Hoban Run" around Bay Ridge, Brooklyn.

The award, sponsored by Xaverian High School - which uses the 18-year-old five-mile run to raise money for scholarships for the sons of city cops attending the school - was presented by U.S. Rep. Peter King, who heads the House of Representatives' Homeland Security Committee. Mr. Hoban, who was 26 at the time of his murder, was an alumnus of Xaverian.
