Bush-Whacked in Iraq To the Editor: Which is worse for America, the 9/11 terrorist attacks or the Bush-led war in Iraq? Fair question? I think so. The 9/11 attacks brought our nation together, while the war in Iraq has divided America and turned individuals and groups against each other. The 9/11 attacks brought out the best in so many courageous people who risked and sacrificed their own lives to save others. But the war in Iraq has wasted the courage and lives of our brave soldiers in what is now an unwinnable civil war. Our soldiers and their families have truly been "Bush-whacked" in Iraq. Even the economic cost of 9/11 is miniscule compared to the ultimate cost of the war in Iraq. And what about the military services and the National Guard? Recruitment has been reduced to a trickle and won't recover in our lifetime. Military draft? That would end the Iraq travesty immediately. MICHAEL J.
