Judicial Hopefuls Must File Forms Candidates for judicial office in New York must file financial disclosure statements with the Ethics Commission for the Unified Court System under a new rule that takes effect Sept. 1, Chief Administrative Judge Jonathan Lippman announced Aug. 8. The forms must be filed within 20 days of an individual formally becoming a candidate, and they will be subject to public examination. Until now, while candidates for executive and legislative positions throughout the state were required to file the disclosure statement, there was an exemption for judicial candidates until they actually were elected. For further information, call the Ethics Commission at (212) 428-2899. | |||||
