76 New Sergeants In P.D. Promotions

Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly named one new Assistant Chief, two Inspectors, and four Deputy Inspectors among 243 uniform upgrades - including 76 new Sergeants and civilian promotions - in morning and afternoon ceremonies held at 1 Police Plaza July 31.

Assistant Chief Michael E. Collins is currently serving as the commanding officer of the Office of the Deputy Commissioner of Public Information. Mr. Collins began his career in 1981 on patrol in the 70th Precinct in Brooklyn.

New Inspectors

Inspector Michael E. O'Neil joined the department in 1987, beginning his career on patrol in the 108th Precinct in Queens. He is currently serving as the commanding officer of the Counter Terrorism Division.

Inspector Anthony T. Tria started working for the former New York City Housing Police Department in 1984. He most recently served as the commanding officer of the Deputy Commissioner of Management and Budget Capital Construction Unit.

The following were promoted to Deputy Inspector: Anthony V. Bologna, Patrick J. Keane, Michael W. Pilecki, and Samuel E. Wright.

The new Lieutenants Special Assignment are: Anthony S. Gazis, John J. Sullivan, and James J. Woods.

The names of the civilians and the positions they were promoted to are: Carl M. Chiaramonte, Administrative Director of Fleet Maintenance; Lori M. Workstel, Agency Attorney Level III; Daniel E. Maurer, Agency Attorney Level II; Vincent A. Tullo, Assistant Supervising Supervisor; Barbra J. Duncan, Clerical Associate, Level IV; and John M. Grisanti, Suprevisor of Mechanics (Mechanical Equipment).
