75 Principals End Training At Academy

By HOWARD MEGDAL

The third class of the Aspiring Principals Program graduated July 27 at the New York City Leadership Academy, providing the city with a cadre of 75 new leaders who will begin at city schools this fall.

"The Leadership Academy is making an enormous contribution in helping to ensure that every New York City public school is led by an effective Principal," Schools Chancellor Joel I. Klein said. "I congratulate the graduates and am confident that that their work will significantly enhance the academic achievement of public school students across the city." The graduates completed a 14-month program that included a six-week summer session, followed by a year-long mentoring program under an experienced Principal. The Academy was founded in 2003.
