Dua Runs School Fundraising Arm

The Department of Education last week named Stephanie P. Dua Chief Executive Officer of the Fund for Public Schools, a nonprofit that works with DOE to increase private donations for public education.

Ms. Dua, who had been interim CEO, came to the department in 2005 after working at the Robin Hood Foundation, where she provided oversight for that organization's $50 million library-building project in of the city's poorest schools.

"I am delighted that Stephanie will bring her strong record of building partnerships and support to this new role," Schools Chancellor Joel I. Klein, who is chairman of the Fund for Public Schools, said in a statement. "Her commitment to increasing private investment in public education will help ensure consistent funding for our priority initiatives and enable our students to reach their full potential."
