FBI, Heal Thyself
The attempted murder of Angela Clemente, who cracked the case against former FBI Agent R. Lindley DeVecchio, raises serious questions about the FBI itself. Assistant Brooklyn District Attorney Michael Vecchione has said that he believes the attack is linked to DeVecchio, and would not rule out the possibility that former FBI agents may be involved in the attack. With James Kallstrom, former FBI supervisor and current Senior Advisor for Counter-Terrorism to Governor Pataki, and other retired FBI agents, collecting money for DeVecchio's defense, one has to wonder whether the integrity of the FBI has been seriously compromised. Kallstrom cleared DeVecchio of the same charges years ago. Where are the voices of current and former FBI agents telling Kallstrom and others to "shut up and let the Brooklyn District Attorney's Office do its job?" MICHAEL J. GORMAN
