Anderson New School District Superintendent

By HOWARD MEGDAL

Cami Anderson, a former Executive Director of New York City Teach for America, was named Superintendent of District 79 for alternative schools and programs by the city Department of Education last week.

Ms. Anderson also served as Chief Program Officer for New Leaders for New Schools, a national non-profit organization dedicated to training directors to improve underperforming schools.

"Cami has shown herself to be a true leader and innovator," Schools Chancellor Joel I. Klein said in a July 18 statement. "Over the course of her career, she has had a significant impact on students, Teachers, Principals, and schools. I am confident she will provide the leadership and programs the students in District 79 need to excel."

Ms. Anderson replaces interim Superintendent Tim Lisante, who will now serve as a Local Instructional Superintendent in the district.
