Scoppetta Names 7 Fire Captains

The Fire Department promoted seven of its members to the rank of Captain Feb. 17, with Fire Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta presiding over the brief ceremony.

The following firefighters were elevated from Lieutenant to Captain: Edward Schollmeier, Ladder 108; Kevin M. Lynch, Ladder 5; Richard S. Mlecz, Ladder 45; Robert J. Byrnes, Ladder 136; Christopher G. McArdle, Engine 45; Patrick M. Gleason, Ladder 48; and George J. Campbell, Engine 82.

The department said the newly promoted officers will be assigned to various divisions throughout the city.
