THE CHIEF-LEADER welcomes letters from its readers for publication. TOUSSAINT’S SMOKE Toussaint's Smoke To the Editor: Nobody can seriously think that now, almost six years into the Toussaint administration at Transport Workers' Union Local 100, that the responsibility lies elsewhere. It's part of a pattern by this administration that refuses to take responsibility for anything that they do, or anything that happens on their watch. The constant passing of the buck, i.e. "Willie James did this" or "Sonny Hall did that" or the "five VPs did that" is nothing more than a smokescreen to divert attention from their acts. It's time to get a grip, and to be honest with ourselves. The fear-mongering and the juvenile nastiness that the "One Union" political candidates have made us endure would have you believe that disaster looms in December. It doesn't. Local 100 members are going to make their individual choices based upon their beliefs, and our union is going to be better for it. The Toussaint administration is going to get a dose of reality. They need it. If we the members are lucky, the Rail and Bus United slate will take the major elected positions and the executive board and will set about correcting the errors that were made in the last two contracts.
