Third Fireman Dismissed For Firehouse Sex

By GINGER ADAMS OTIS

The Fire Department June 28 fired Anthony Loscuito, the last of three firefighters involved in a 2004 sex scandal at a Bronx firehouse.

Mr. Loscuito, along with firefighters Christian Waugh and Tony DeLuca, was named in a February 2005 report issued by the Department of Investigation that described serious misconduct and other violations of FDNY regulations while on duty Aug. 20, 2004.

Firehouse Sex, Coverup

The firefighters were accused of having sex with a mentally ill woman in their firehouse lounge and then trying to cover up the incident when she contacted the media. The woman initially claimed she was raped, but recanted parts of her story after DOI launched an investigation.

In an interview at DOI headquarters Aug. 25, 2004, agency investigators said, Mr. Loscuito gave false and misleading testimony under oath and denied having sexual contact with the female visitor.

The FDNY later brought a number of disciplinary charges against Mr. Loscuito. Following four days of hearings in March, an Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings judge recommended June 14 that Mr. Loscuito be terminated, and Fire Commissioner Scoppetta complied with that recommendation last week.

All three firefighters involved in the incident have been fired by the FDNY. Mr. Waugh was let go in December 2004 after refusing to talk to DOI investigators. Mr. Deluca resigned in lieu of termination in October 2005, a week before his OATH trial was scheduled to begin.
