THE CHIEF-LEADER welcomes letters from its readers for publication. Letters to the Editor: PEF's Brynien is No Benson Letters to the Editor PEF's Brynien is No Benson
As New York City Public Employees' Federation executive board members, we take issue with your article on the PEF elections that appeared in your June 9 edition. Your article created the impression that the C-me Time for a Change slate was running against Roger Benson. Roger Benson has served as PEF President under the Members 1st administration for the last nine years. He is retiring and leaving a slate of candidates who have neither the experience nor skills to run our union. Roger Benson did it all, and Ken Brynien is no Roger Benson. C-me Time for a Change was formed at the 2004 PEF convention to provide an alternative voice within our union. C-me Time for a Change has a slate of candidates who have demonstrated leadership skills at all levels of PEF and will work as a team to deliver strong and effective leadership to all PEF members. They are: Michael DelPiano for President, Carlos Garcia for Secretary-Treasurer, Joyce Degenhardt for V.P., Jennifer Faucher for V.P., and Dan Steen for V.P. Their foci will be stronger political action, COLA enhancements, contract enforcement, Civil Service compliance and the elimination of "top-down" leadership. We believe that the choice is clear. It's "Time for a Change." Dr. ROBERT LOWINGER, BERNICE JONES, RONALD GREENE, NEILA CARDUS, WAYNE BAYER, BELLEW McMANUS, WILLIAM SACHS, ROBERT THOMAS, EVELYN FUENTES, DARWIN RICHMOND |
