DC 37 Latest Union to Back Spitzer's Run

District Council 37 endorsed State Attorney General Elliot Spitzer in the Democratic primary for Governor last week.

The announcement of the candidate who is far ahead in opinion polls came after a unanimous vote of the DC 37 executive board.

"We endorsed Attorney General Spitzer because he is by far the best candidate. He cares about the issues that are important to this union," said DC 37 Executive Director Lillian Roberts. "We believe he will best represent the interests of the labor community of our city and our state."

Mr. Spitzer is opposed for the Democratic nomination by Nassau County Executive Thomas Suozzi. Mr. Suozzi, as well as the Republican candidates, ex-Assemblyman John Faso and former Massachusetts Governor William Weld, trail Mr. Spitzer by more than 50 points in recent voter surveys.
