Torrence Wins 2nd Term As
'Metro' Leader

Members of the New York Metro Area Postal Union have re-elected
President Clarice Torrence to a second term, as she vanquished four opponents
while getting 1,192 of 3,168 votes cast.

Arbitration Association tabulated the ballots April 21 and MAPU's national
union's election committee certified the results. |
'Will Get Better'
Ms. Torrence issued a statement saying she was "pleased to serve the
membership for another three years. This will only get better."
Also re-elected from Ms. Torrence's Power to the Workers slate were Clarence
A. Wall, executive vice president; Frankie Sanchez, director of Industrial
relations; Charles Bembry, executive secretary; Charles J. Carnes, treasurer;
and Abriitto Divine Pla' El, director of organization.
Twenty-two of 26 positions on the local's executive board were filled with
members from the Power to the Workers slate, as were four of five trustee
positions.
