THE CHIEF-LEADER welcomes letters from its readers for publication. TWU JUSTICE DENIED TWU Justice Denied (The following letter, written to the judge handling the transit strike case, Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Theodore T. Jones, is reprinted in edited form with the permission of its author.) Dear Judge Jones: Your verdict has proven that you and your court are just as corrupt as many of the other political entities of this state. Any fair-minded person looking at the facts would have concluded that the strike was provoked by the MTA, above all the other factors involved. The contract it offered the workers wouldn't even keep up with inflation. No solution was proposed concerning the disciplinary system; just some vague nonsense. The workers were required to contribute to their health care. Just to rub salt in the wounds, the corrupt and mismanaged MTA gave away millions of dollars in fare rebates, and they still have a surplus. This money should have gone for a halfway-decent raise to the employees. Mr. Kalikow and Mr. Dellaverson were not in your court to answer for their actions in this matter. Particularly galling was keeping the proposal to give lesser pensions to new workers on the table in their final offer, which was clearly illegal. There should be a large cardboard cut-out on your courtroom door of a big kangaroo. You should be ashamed of yourself. THOMAS P. CUNNINGHAM, Captain (Re.) NYPD
