‘SHOOT TO WOUND’ OFF TARGET
     A bill introduced by State Sen. David Paterson that would require police officers to shoot to wound suspects, rather than kill them, is a misguided initiative that shows no understanding of the circumstances in which cops may have to resort to deadly force.

     As a general rule, we believe that union officials should avoid criticizing each other’s contracts when they are awaiting ratification unless the terms of a deal are so egregiously harmful that they are likely to cause long-term damage to the unhappy officials’ members.
