Indecent Bureaucrats

Indecent Bureaucrats

To the Editor:

In her story (Jan. 28 issue) covering the promotions of, among others, some members of the Emergency Medical Service division of the FDNY, your reporter, Ms. Ginger Adams Otis, pointed out that someone, somewhere, in the Fire Department tried blocking them.

The reason, which violated basic decency, common sense, oh, and the law, was that the EMS folk missed their response dates because they were on duty in the Iraqi war zone.

May I suggest that these bureaucrats be publicly identified, pilloried, and then, for good measure, given a five-month foot patrol in Fallujah?
