Following are this week's city civil service and licensing exams:

Jan. 18, 20, and 23 - Machinist - practical test, Board of Education Central Repair Shop, 44-46 Vernon Blvd., 2nd Flr., Queens, three sessions, 13 candidates.

Jan. 20 and 21 - Promotion to Sergeant (NYPD) - written test, various high schools, eight sessions, 6,154 candidates.
